I’ve read about “Nouvelle Vague” and thought it too highbrow for the likes of me, but if you’re down with it, I’m in. Thanks for the

It's not too highbrow, if you're willing to read the subtitles. Lmk what you think!

Never big on foreign-language films, the first (and only) JLG film I watched was "Sympathy for the Devil", in 1968 at the Coconut Grove Playhouse. It was shocking and exciting, though not , perhaps (IMHAUO) afine example of his screenwriting talent! Based on the making of the Stone's song, interspersed with scenes depicting the rise of the Black Power movement, it was somewhat disjointed (having no plot)1 I am now ready to see "Breathless", after reading this post, some 57 years after deciding that I wasn't a fan of JLG's, though I did enjoy the movie for its music and imagery.

CORRECTION: I responded to your comment earlier and said Sympathy for the Devil was actually directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, which is what I get for trusting a response AI gave me. You were right about it being J-LG. Michael L-H has directed many other rock-based documentaries and is best known for directing Let It Be, the Beatles doc which was re-done much better as Get Back, by Peter Jackson in 2021.

Eric... as a film nerd in my teens I was entranced by the offbeat charm of Breathless (my teenage crush on Jean Seberg kept me watching) even if could not understand the dialogue (still can't!).

I'll now dive into Nouvelle Vague on Netflix, It won't improve my French language skills, but I'm sure the storytelling will help me better understand the sway the original held over this kid in Phoenix. Hey..."..creative output and am doing it immersively for a pittance." You're speaking MY language!

Art is everyone's language, if we just hear its call.
